Are You The Right Kind Of Paranoid?

Being paranoid means that a person irrationally believes that the world is against them. Sounds crazy perhaps, but isn’t that what we often believe when we fail to take important action in our lives?

You want to ask your manager for a raise, but you’ve got a feeling she’ll say no.
You want to apply for a better job, but you’re sure they’ll turn you down.
You want to start a business, but you doubt people will buy from you.
You want to reach out to someone on linkedin for help, but are afraid of a negative response.
You want to write that book, but who will take the time to actually read it?

Often times we fail to take action because we fear rejection and failure. We are in fact imagining a negative outcome and allowing that to control us. A fear of something that has not yet occurred is irrational! Consider this definition of fear:

Fantasized
Experiences
Appearing
Real

BECOME THE RIGHT KIND OF PARANOID

It is rare to learn something that makes you view the world in a completely different way. But that is exactly what happened to me 20 years ago when I embarked on a journey of self-development.

I was blown away to learn that we each have the power to actively select our beliefs about the world, about life, and about ourselves.

One of the most powerful beliefs I have consciously chosen to live by is called the Inverse Paranoid.

WHAT IS AN INVERSE PARANOID?

Someone who is paranoid believes the world is plotting against them. An inverse paranoid believes the exact opposite: that the universe is conspiring in their favor. A truly empowering belief!

FIVE REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BECOME AN INVERSE PARANOID

A MORE PLEASANT WAY TO LIVE

Being an inverse paranoid helps to eliminate doubt and suspicion about other people’s intentions. Walk around carrying the belief that everyone you meet, every encounter, is in some way meant to support you. Life becomes more pleasant and less stressful.

SEE OPPORTUNITY INSTEAD OF ROADBLOCKS

When someone says “no”, we tend to label that as rejection or failure. But as an inverse paranoid, you choose to believe that the person saying no is part of a greater plan for your own benefit. For example, maybe this no will lead you to obtain a yes from a more valuable source.

APPROACH PEOPLE AND SITUATIONS WITH A GENUINE SMILE

Knowing that the world is working in your favor is a very reassuring belief that will make you happy and put a genuine smile on your face. Go into a situation expecting people to want to help you in some way. This in turn puts the person facing you at ease (everyone loves a warm smile) and makes them want to help you.

TAKING ACTION BECOMES LESS SCARY

The number one thing holding us back from taking action is fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of failure and fear of rejection. But when you cultivate the belief that the world is conspiring to do you good, those fears begin to melt away.

For example, many people are afraid to speak in front of an audience. One way to overcome this fear of public speaking is to know in your heart of hearts that all those eyes looking at you are not judging you. On the contrary, they are rooting for you. All they want is for you to succeed.

ATTRACTING POSITIVE OUTCOMES

One of the keys to attracting more good things into your life is expecting those good things to appear. With an inverse paranoid mindset, you expect good to come out of each interaction, which helps you attract those positive outcomes.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS

Becoming an inverse paranoid is a choice. Believing that the world is conspiring to do you good is a choice. Looking for the opportunities and the miracles is a choice.
What kind of paranoid will you choose to be?
